Can I get a recommendation for a good "How To" book?
 

I have reviewed other posts from people seeking a book to reference, but those individuals seem to have a higher level of skill than I have.

I have just installed Fedora 15, and have read through some of the forum posts for tips on how to get my network adapter running (ASUS usb-n13). The difficulty I am experiencing has a lot to do with not knowing how to get started on any of these tips that have been presented. I need a from the ground up manual that provides instructions starting from taking the mouse in hand (it is humbling to admit this, but I'm tired of wrestling with this system).

From what I have read about linux; it looks like it could be something I can get into, but I am having a struggle getting started. I figure if I can get much more comfortable after I at least get connected to the internet.

Looks as though no one has released a book for 15 yet, though the docs at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/index.html are a good start point, the ones for 14 should still apply if there isn't one for 15 yet.

Theres always the option of taking a Hands-on class... with an instructor, books, etc... it could be helpful to be able to ask questions and get help immediately.

One of the sites I always advice to new Linux users is http://www.howtoforge.com. The how to guides on that site are almost copy/paste and very easy to understand. A lot of them also come with screenshots of the actual steps to take. In your case for example you could have a look at this Howto on there. It's more then what you need, but the networking part is in there, with screenshots included. I'm sure you'll get it up and running in no time. Have fun with Linux.

Thank you, all for the speedy responses. I have glanced at a few of the suggested sites, and I intend to start working my way down the suggestions this weekend. @SzBoardStreatcher, you have a very good idea there. I'm definitely going to investigate my local options (thank you).

Given the lack of support that you'll get from ASUS, there will be a do-it-yourself element to this. The command 'lsusb' may well show up some information, and if that includes the chipset identification, that would be useful. And if any error messages show up in dmesg, that would also be helpful.

The other thing is that there are a number of hurdles to get over with networking, and, if you have the option of plugging a cable in temporarily, that can make things easier while trying to get things set up.
