I'm sure there are ways to split it up into CD-sized chunks, but I'm not sure if that's feasible for you. Have you considered downloading a Fedora Live CD instead? I'm pretty sure they have a hard disk install option. You could then install any other packages you want via the Internet repositories. It's just a thought.

Thanks very much for the idea. I couldn't find a live Fed 8 so I ended up installing Fedora 6 from some cd's. Very cool but I have no idea how to install software or any applications. I am still on-line via XP as I can't get my wireless working on linux.

You will run into issues installing stuff on FC6 as it is beyond EOL(End Of Life). Once a version has reached EOL no further updates are made. Repos that used to mirror the data begin dropping quite rapidly.

Installing software is done with yum(man yum) from CLI or yumex a graphical front end for yum.

Hi, thanks for the link. I now have a Fed 8 live disk and can boot from it. I currently have two 40GB partions, one XP and the other Fedora 6. I would like to replace Fed 6 with the Fed 8. When I boot the Fedora 8 it runs fine but when I try to install it to the hard drive only one drive appears as an option to install to. It shows a single 80GB drive. I do not want to write over XP yet. How can I designate the correct drive to write over. I am currently using grub(2) if that makes a difference.
