Can I add a Novatel USB Wireless U727 modem to my ASUS Eee PC

In order to make my little lap top work on line when I am commuting I would like to add the Novotel Wireless U727 so I can be on line. I purchased this from my phone company and registered for the mobile service, now I need to know how to activate the USB. All instructions in the manual is geared to Windows OS. I have been in the Synaptic File Manager, but frankly I am more than a little intimidated. I do not want to damage my new PC.

I would appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thanks

Hey. I just got my Novatel U727 USb modem up on my PC. SUSE 11 showed up as USB0 in Network manager as CDMA . Fedora 10 and mandriva showed it slightly differently but all basically network manager. Do a search here and you will find several post that will tell you what to put in. I am not at my comp. today.
