Can enybody help me to install Linux Suse Enterprise Server 9 at Home PC with Win XP

Hi evrybody. I want to install Suse Enterprise Server 9 at home PC with Xp.At first i read info like hxxp://www.geocities.com/epark/linux/grub-w2k-HOWTO.html ....I just plug DVD with Suse and try to install it at suggested order, but it say me that has Error. Can sombody instruct me what to do. Becausedurring installation there is no such questions like we have with installin Red Hat , i mean automatic partitioning or fs layout. So i dont make some kind of partitions before installing, i just have unlocated partition about 4 Gb size after c:\ partition, where Windows is. Have i created its for Suse???

Question can any body help to install linux suse enterprise 9 at home pc

If you mean Suse 9 professional it needs about 2,5 G at least
AS I remember from the past it present you with a proposal for installing
If it do not so there is also a expert option .
In this option you have to create Swap let 250 MB for each user you also
have to create a partition for linux native When I use 9.3 professional
I use reiserfs You also need to assign a mount point to reiserfs partition
You also have to decide where Grub should be written

BUt what I do not understand is why did it give a error message

Best of luck

In the expert option of suse Is option called Create
1) Choice this option to create a swap file in the unused part of the hd
2) choice this option to create a linux native file in this case reiserfs also of course in the unused part of the hd
The mount point is some think like ./ but I am not totally sure because it is rather a long time ago but I think if you choose a wrong mount point she refuge it
3) Then came the point where grub should be written in MBR of the HD or not that is you,re choice
if you choice fore MBR (of the hdd) grub will give the choice to boot windows or suse
But is also possible to boot suse from a floppy drive then grub should be written on the MBR to the floppy drive

But again check first what error message mains

good luck

Exclamation can any body help to install linux suse enterprise 9 at home pc

If you solved the error problem Suse will boot up from the cd or dvd
Up until the point the she cames with suggestion of installation
at that time at the bottom of the screen is the expert option.
If you,re cd or dvd is correct she cames up to here because this the point
that suse has check you,re system.
As for as I remember one of the first option after the splash screen is media check Do this check to be sure that the cd or dvd is still correct

Where I am down loading fedora 8 dvd it takes 7 hour

all the best
