Can't see "places" menu in GEDIT

I am running the normal GEDIT, with all plugins as set to enabled, and I'm trying to do a thing where I can connect to an FTP server (which I know how to do) but I can't find the "places tab"

Heres a picture

Have you clicked on "Open"? Because an open dialog box should come up giving you a places column and allowing you to select a drive or location; such as a share drive.

On the lower left of your file browser tab, you see symbols similar to new document and file folder; I'm referring to the image you originally sent out.

Click on the file folder to see the file browser where you can see places such as the bookmark you created for that FTP site.

Reiteration of the instructions:

Once you are successfully connected to a server, fire up gedit.
Go to view and check "Side Panel" or press F9.
>> At bottom of side panel, click "File Browser" tab. << --- note this step, your picture doesn't reflect that you did this
On top of the side panel drop down menu, select "Bookmarks".
Expand the server you are connecting to.
You now can edit remote files as they are local files.
