Can't open dependencies

Hi there

I just upgraded from Mandrake 8 to Mandrake 9.2 and now everytime my system boot's up I get the following message :

modprobe: modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.2.14-15/modules.dep (No such file or directory)

This message generally comes up in regards to network stuff like when Mandrake tries to initate eth0 or tries to start network services.

When I was using Mandrake 8 things were working fine my NIC and Modem were detected but I am not so fortunate with Mandrake 9.2.

I am using a Netgear fa311 NIC, Mandrake 9.2 uses a netsemi driver to run as did Mandrake 8. Is my NIC causing my problems ?

I notice that the error message says that it is looking for the modules.dep file in /lib/modules/2.2.14-15/modules.dep folder but when I manually went through the file system I found that the file was located in /lib/modules/2.2.14-15mdk/modules.dep, is there a file I can edit to point the kernel to the correct location ?

Somehow, you're installation is still looking for your 2.2 modules, instead of the 2.4 ones. you might be able to rig it to point to the new ones, but no guarentees. Most likely, you missed a step during the upgrade (or Mandrake assumed you were only upgrading from a 2.4 version). I hate to say it, but if I'm correct, you've got a lot of hand editing ahead of you. It might not be a bad idea to try to re-update your system, paying special attention to warnings and sidebars. For the challenge, it's great, but for getting your system to where it's workable, I don't envy you.
