Can't login on samba server with AD account

Hi!
I've successfully joined my 8.04 LTS samba file server to the windows domain. I've read many tutorials like http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu-9.0...tive-directory.
I used krb5 and winbind and not modern likewise-open.
I had successfully got the ticket for the user under whom I was able to join to AD.
I'm able to get domain controller information with net ads info.

But I can't login to that server through ssh (I'm using Putty at windows XP) with any ADuser credentials.
I've tried
windomain\ADuser
ADuser@windomain
ADuser

I only get user@10.0.0.10'password prompt and access denied.

Thank you all in advance for your advice.

ssh has nothing to do with Samba. You will have to use a Linux username and password that has been set up on the system.

thank you bret381,

but I'm not sure you're right.

What do you mean under linux user name and password for the AD user who is only going to log in on the server for the first time? Do you mean I need to add unix user before logging as active directory user?

But while looking today for a solution I found the following article http://anothersysadmin.wordpress.com...n-with-ubuntu/.

After configuring PAM conf files I'm now able to login from XP through ssh (using putty) as below:

Login as: ADuser
ADuser@10.0.0.10's password: active_directory_password

Unfortunately for now I have another questions after joining that server to AD:

1) Where can I find Domain users group. This group is absent from /etc/group.

2) Why did ls -l and sudo (only local unix users are sudoers and Ubuntu doesn't need to look through AD for credentials, as I think ) become very very slow after joining domain?

Thank you.
