use apt-get
I had your origional problem
i installed an app call apt-get
its a package manager, has a huge list of nix apps all remotly installable and automatic
i had the Xlib error, i searched apt-get for xfree and found exactly what i needed
then i needed libJpeg, searched for it, installed it, worked fine
then i had this error
"checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!"
i installed qt-devel 3.1.1-6 and still got the same error
i dont know why it worked for the others but not for qt
anyways , using a package manager makes things alot easier
there is another one called Gen2
it compiles from source rather then installing RPM's like apt-get does
good luck
and if anyone has a solution to my qt problem, i'd much appreciate it
