can't find ipconfig

I have been given a box that has mandrake 9.1 installed on it. I was hoping to receive it with the GUI - but so far i can only log in and type commands on the command line.

My problem is however that i am trying to find out the IP address of the machine so that I can ping to it from a windows 98 machine.

When I type ipconfig eth0 i get the message -bash : ipconfig : command not found.

Once I know that the two machines can see each other - then i will proceed to install NIS and Samba

I'm a newbie so please bear with me.

I have the mandrake 9.1 installation disks - perhaps i should be installing from scratch - never done this before - so i'm a little hesitant.
