hi all,
as i am a newbie ,i tried to connect to the net using debian 2.4.27-2-386 n smart ax MT882 as my modem connected to usb port .but the kppp dial up service cant locate the modem n says modem is busy.

I've always had better luck with a much simper program called 'ppp'... U have to run ppp -s to setup and ppp -c to connect. try to get the debian package with apt-get/synaptic
On kppp there are about 9 USB modem presettings you can choose from. I don't know which one (if any) you are setup to use. Can you post back here the results of configure/device/modem device. Then once you are sure you have that configured properly (and it may be a case of pure trial and error), go to the next tab (modem) and click query modem which is a good diagnostic. Once you have this info, then post back.
