can`t connect to server in my browser, but succeed via ssh

i start the web server with no user logged in (just well at the choosing scene).

if i wanna connect to the web server in a browser on a client pc , what should i do first ? Now i find that i could connect by ssh but fail to connect in web browser. and if i choose root (haven`t try other user yet) to log in on physical server ,i can connect successfully in web browser as well.

is there any particular service should be included in the initialization ?

or must i log in a user on the server machine to make a successful connection in the browser?

i`m totally newbie and
need your help , thx~

If you can access it on the box itself, you need to check the 'connection'.

Is that server on your local network or somewhere on the big bad world called internet?
How do you connect in the browser? By ip (http://serveripaddress) or by hostname (e.g. http://serverhostname); please give the details for both on the server itself as well as for the client if they differ.
What else is between your server and your client PC? Just the cable, a router, ...

Other things that I might have forgotten ...

And to complete the information, which distro; I assume Ubuntu based on your 'choosing scene', but I might be wrong.

maybe i`m just not clear about how the server works...

ok,as for the server machine , my story is
1. i press the button on the server , and RedHat Enterprise on;
2, it comes to the login scene ,(users are oracle ,haproxy, and some other users ,and of course hidden root user)
3, now here`s the question: do i have to log in any user in order for the server to be accessible ?

i thought maybe i could add certain network service to boot stage of the server before any user log in. did i make a mistake?
The server can be accessed both by internal network and the Big Bad Internet , i redirect the access port of the Internet to the same port of internal network. and you just remind me that the maybe it`s the firewall configuration that contains this redirection has not been loaded. therefore i cannot access in the browser lacking of the redirection ?
i think my client pc and the server must be on a big switch in the internal network.thus i can connect via ssh?

thank you for the reply~
