Can't update Gedit

Everytime I run ./configure for gedit I end up with these error message

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
configure: WARNING: You must have the aspell or pspell dev packages to build the spell plugin.
Package libgnomeui-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libgnomeui-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'libgnomeui-2.0' found
configure: error: Library requirements (libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.6.0 libglade-2.0 >= 2.3.6
eel-2.0 >= 2.6.0 gtksourceview-1.0 >= 1.0.0
libgnomeprintui-2.2 >= 2.6.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's those packages/libraries, where do I get them and how do I install them

I run RH9 with the gnome.
How can I find out the Gnome's version I' m running.

Thank you
Richard

Since you're on RH9, I strongly recommend you install and use the YUM pkg mgr, which will take care of dependencies for you.
Get it from here: http://linux.duke.edu/projects/yum/
