Can't send from postfix to hotmail

Hi all..
Yesterday it was working fine. Today I can not send from postfix to hotmail and gmail. I get this message:
connect to mx2.hotmail.com[65.55.37.104]: server dropped connection without sending the initial SMTP greeting

What could be the reason?
Please help

BTW we use Redhat Enterprise Linux 4AS
and Postfix version 2.2.10

The Hotmail server is rejecting your connection.

Hi there,

It happens sometimes to me also. I always thought it was because I am using a self-signed certificate. I don't know if that's it. Otherwise, I would also be interested in the solution.

Cheers

Hello,

Sometimes Hotmail blocks servers that connect from dynamic IP's. So if you're behind a dynamic IP then Hotmail might reject you. You could bypass this by configuring postfix to relay all your outgoing mail to your ISP's smarthost and not sending it directly to Hotmail. Hotmail has been known to do those things in the past, so I assume they're doing it again.

You can check on this site http://www.robtex.com/ to see if your IP is on the blacklist (RBL). If it is, then you cannot send out mail directly to Hotmail.

Kind regards,

Eric

TB0ne, centosboy, fatra2,Eric, thank you all very much for participating with me.
The problem is still there. I am not using a dynamic IP, and I made sure that the reverse dns lookup for my domain is working.
Could the problem be with my postfix?

No...as centosboy suggested:

which is probably the case. They are rejecting your connection. Contact the folks at Hotmail, and talk with them. See what they're saying, and get them to un-blacklist you, if that is indeed the case.
