can't send files through IM clients, any tips?

I've tried using xirc, Kopete and Pidgin, and the MSN and AIM parts of the latter two, and have been unable to send files to any of my contacts.

I can receive files in Pidgin from other Yahoo people, but can't send

I'm not sure if I need to open ports or anything. I can chat just fine.

with XIrc I can't open any DCC connections(chat or file transfer).

Any tips?

I'm using Slackware 12.1, full install.

Hey,

I don't use Slakware, but I think you need to allow for the traffic to work through ipchains/iptables or their equivalent - or just turn them off if you don't need them.

Best wishes,

Mike
