Can't run .sh files-Linux 7 mint


I am running Linux 7 mint. And I am trying to install a .sh file .Were do I place it,and how do I get terminal to reconize it?

Its probably a self-extracting archive, so create a dir eg /opt/appname, put it in there, then

chmod +x file.sh
./file.sh

hi

it would be safer to test an unknown sh by installing into an emulator first....or if you do not have or want to use them...run it from your /home folder pls.

just a thought from a paranoid
