Can't Read Configurations, Error 71

I have just created a new virtual machine in VMware Workstation 11 using CentOS 7, running on a Windows 10 Home host, with the intention of creating a directory server. I have completed the minimal installation, set a hostname, edited the hosts file to reflect the hostname change, created a new user and granted the user sudo privileges. Restarted the VM, walked away, and came back to an error message covering the screen.

usb 2-2.1: can't read configurations, error -71
usb 2-2.1: unable to read config index 0 descriptor/start: -71
usb 2-2.1: can't read configurations, error -71
usb 2-2.1: unable to read config index 0 descriptor/start: -84

The -84 message appeared less frequently than -71.

I am very new to Linux, and have Googled the problem for several days now without any solution. I'm not sure how to tell if it's a guest or host OS problem, a hypervisor problem, or a hardware problem. I can still execute commands, but I still receive errors every few seconds which is terribly annoying.

Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

Several minutes after the original post, my laptop received a Blue Screen of Death: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. The driver responsible: vmusb.sys. I now know the problem is with VMware. Googling vmusb.sys took me to the VMware forums where I found out that VMware has acknowledged that this driver is an issue and will be patched in a future release.
