Can't open boot device

Hi,

I'm running Linux 6.2 on a Sun Sparc machine with samba 2.0.6 and Apache http server installed. I got the following message at boot after doing a fixing for Apache http server. As a linux newbie, I don't know what to do next to successfully boot the machine.

Please could someone help me to get things going.

-------------------------------------

Boot Service: Linux File and args:
Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package
Evaluating: boot

Can't open boot device

ok

-------------------------------------

Before the boot, the http server failed to be started due to a call to a perl-related function (I think it's perl_handler()) in httpd.conf. When looking at this file, I found "# LoadModule perl_module modules/libperl.so" which was commented out, and I removed the comment character '#', and then rebooted the machine. However, this did not fix the problem, and got a new error message in httpd.conf: invalid command of LoadModule. (I didn't do "AddModule" for this as I didn't find an entry for this)

Then I went to linuxconf and added "perl_module modules/libperl.so" by clicking Add button in Apache server | Module section, and pressed "Accept" button. However, when I opened the httpd.conf again, I found all the LoadModule/AddModule commands which were previously in this file disappeared. But I still decided to reboot the machine with a bit worry, and I got the above message.

Many thanks

At-a-loss
