Can't mount my linux partition in linux!

Hey guys,

So I successfuly installed slackware 12 on my compaq f700 laptop(minus sound and internet).

I'm dualbooting with windows xp which is mounted on /dev/sda1, /win-x. It's a read only partition, so I can't write on it. (Don't think I can change this...)

Now, I'm logged in my desktop, but I can't access the harddrive that linux is on which is /dev/sda2. It says that it isn't mounted, but it's busy when I try mounting in terminal.

When I try to mount it, an error pops up saying: A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file

(rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

So...yeah.

Oh, if it helps, I didn't create a swap partition since I figured that having 2gigs of ram would be sufficient enough.

You'll probably want to read this. I think you have to add your user to the plugdev group, but I don't know for sure since I don't use HAL. The thread I linked to will provide more information.

Edit: also, are you aware that 12.1 has been released?

Thanks for the quick response, Nylex. I'll be reading that now. When was 12.1 released? I downloaded the DVD off of the slackware website about a month ago.

1st May was the release date for 12.1 :).

Ah! I missed it!

Thanks for the update! Turns out I have 12.0.

Well, since this was a clean and simple install, I suppose I'll download the DVD once I get home. The simple format should do it, right?

I currently still have to go through the ndiswrapper to get my wireless card working.

You can either start from scratch with the new install or upgrade.
