Can't logon to the internet!!

I'm running slackware 10.0 and i cant log-on to the Internet or get connected in any way which really sucks. Do i have to configure some network file of some type HELP ME!!!!

Can you specify how do you get connected to internet.

Modem / DSL / Leased Line and all other info on your ISP

Well I'm hooked up through cable using an Ethernet card (Realtek RTL8139)
my ISP is shaw cable which uses a Motorola modem for all there business
I had it working one day but then it just quit i don't know why?

Please check whether your IP address is being assigned to your card properly using :

#ifconfig -a

also check the /etc/resolv.conf to check the if the addr of the DNS servers are correct.
