can't install rh9 samsung DVD not supported

I spend some time learning Linux on vmware,and I found it's a quit good OS,however;when actually migrating to Linux (by installing RH9 on my physical hardware,not vmware) the installer goes like this:
choose language --->fine
choose keyboard --->fine
choose installation media ---> I chose CD/DVD then Linux can't find driver so it asks me to choose from a list,I tried a lot of -NOT all of- the list entries
but no good ,my system is as follows:
CPU: Intel core i5
motherboard: Gigabyte P61A-D3
8 gigs of RAM Kingstone
DVD:Samsung SH-S223 22x22x
VGA: ATI Radeon HD 5450

thats simple. RH9 has been depreciation for almost a decade now. You would want to run Fedora 16 now and in 3 months Fedora 17.

http://fedoraproject.org/

that is were you want to go to grab a much more modern OS that should better detect your hardware and run properly.

unless you have a computer that is older then 10yrs old RH9 will NOT be able to even run on that hardware.

is SCSI important

thanks for your interest ,I forgot to mention that my DVD is connected to the motherboard via an ordinary IDE/SATA cable (NOT SCSI) so is it important to use (purchase) a SCSI?,also I already have Fedora 15,RHEL5,RHEL 6,Debian 6.0.4 and open SUSE 12.1 will it install or should I download Fedora 16? wish RHEL6 work as I really wanna prepare for their certification ,one more thing
is it important to have a Floppy drive in my system since RH9 installer asked me to insert the missed driver disk ?
thank you;;

Fedora 15/16 will most likely support your hardware out of the box. Neither a SCSI CD/DVD-drive nor floppies are needed nowadays.

my DVD is gonna make me down handed

I followed all replies,thank you,
it's still not working ;tried to install Fedora 15,openSUSE 12.1; the installer hangs at the same point ,after providing Language,Keyboard,HDD partitioning, then it says "there is no CDs in your CD/DVD drive" although THE DVD DO REALLY EXIST in the DVD drive; in addition I'm wondering if the installer didn't recognize my DVD drive,then how on earth could it load till this point in the first place?!! why it kicks fine in the beginning then makes me sad again?!!
what should I do ?
