Can't install Linux Deepin on Mac Mini running Mint?

Hey!
So I'm a bit of a Linux noob, but I've installed my fair share of different distros on different computers.
A little less than a year ago, I installed Linux Mint on an old Mac Mini, and it was a little slow. It was one of the first Linux distros I installed. Anyways, I want to install Linux Deepin on it. But it's not working! I've created a live USB image, but it won't boot from said USB. I've held option while booting, and it only gives me the option to boot from the hard drive. The USB format is MSDOS I believe, and it was seen by my Windows 10 PC. Using a DVD isn't an option.
Does anybody know how to make this thing boot? I've never had this much of a problem with a Linux install...

Thanks!
Jake

Hi!

Perhaps this guide will be of some help: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/deskt...ick-on-mac-osx

Best regards,

Thanks for the reply, but that's not exactly what my problem is. The Mac Mini I'm using is running Linux Mint, not Mac OS. So the terminal commands here won't work. The problem is that I'm running Mint on a Mac Mini, and it won't boot from a flash drive like it has been on other PC's I've installed Linux on, even installing Deepin on a different machine running Mint.

Thanks,

Jake

Is your Mac Mini capable of booting from a flash drive? Have you done it before? Have you tried the flash drive on another computer to see if it works to eliminate that as a problem? Also, what software did you use to create a bootable usb?
