Question Can't install from Linux RH 8 CDs to blank CD and can't boot from CD-Drive

I have decided to try to RH Linux 8 insted of burning my patience on WinXP again, I have a brand new HD (Quantam Fireball 40 GB) I tried to boot from the linux CDROM but my Bios anly allows boots from HD or Floppy. I can boot from an old DOS B/U disk and can access my CD Drive, I have asked one the locals and he says I need to make a Linux boot floppy with CD drivers on it and then use that. Would that be right and how do I do that. Thanks and 73s (ham lingo for best wishes)

allright, to make a bootdisk in windows xp

you can use a program called rawwritewin

it should be in the images directory on the cd

open the program, select bootdisk.img, insert a blank floppy, then press make, or go, or whatever button is there

then boot from it and it should let you install as normal

HI, I have this problem with my laptop as by the time the dvd drive decides which type of disc is in win has booted. as the last post says in the images directory should be the programme calleed rawwritewin but I think the image you want to put on the floppy is called cdrom.img this will point to the cd drive and you can start the install process as normal
