Can't install Flash Player

Okay guys, here I go again.
I have "instal_flash_palyer_7_linux" on my desktop, but I can't get it to load.
What the heck have I done wrong now?
Thanks

First off, what distro are you using? Some distributions have flashplayer pre-packaged in a form you can just install with your package manager.

Which version?

Here's a guide for Breezy (the latest) http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu

It tells you step by step how to install a lot of different software. Just be sure that you've done the part about "Adding additional repositories" or none of it will work.

Installing flash player is pretty straight forward, really:

1) open nautilus (the file manager)
2) go to your /home/$USER/Desktop folder
3) extract the tarball (right click on it, you'll see the option there), there'll be a new folder after that: install_flash_player_7_linux
4) open a terminal (console)
5) cd to your /home/$USER/Desktop/install_flash_player_7_linux
6) type "sudo ./flashplayer_installer"
7) follow the instructions on the screen/answer the questions correctly
8) finished

If you update your repositories, you can install it by typing sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install flashplayer-mozilla. Finished.

MoonMind, you look like a debian guy, so you know the power of the debian repositories. It's better to use apt-get than compile from source most days, especially for newbies like me...

I agree - but since I've enlisted Firefox's help to install Flash as a plugin, it never occured to me to use any repositories for that - but it doesn't work like that in Ubuntu (at least it didn't once), so I fell back on doing things by hand (it's not that complicated, really...). In fact, I consider this to be more of a glitch in straight thinking in my case...

I have trouble downloading/installing Flash player 7 or Flash player 9 on FC3?

I've used tarball or RPM files, but neither worked on my FC3 partition on second hard drive, when installing either Flash player 7 or Flash player 9? What went wrong? Thanks.
