can't install fedora core 3 on reformatted drive

Hi - I had core 3 installed on my computer - I needed to install windows 98 , so I used knoppix live cd to remove all partitions on the drive then formatted the drive for fat32 i think - anyway I got windows 98 installed (i only use it for my camera and cel phone) not when I put the fedora dvd in it stops after picking country and language - I'm sure probably because I did something to the hard drive. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have 2 drives, and want to get rid of everything except a windows partition that I would like to make smaller.

If it was me I would reformat both drives. Install Window on the first drive.(hda)
Then install FC3 on the other drive. (hdb)

I know I had problems installing FC2 on my wifes xp machine, but I thought they fixed that problem in FC3.

There is probably an easier solution. But I would want to seperate the os's to their own drives.

An easier solution would be forget win98 and find a linux program that works with your camera, and phone. (just a suggestion)
If win can do it most likely can be done on linux. My .02.

Blair

If you had fedora running before, then perhaps there is a problem, but if fedora is new to that computer, you might want to investigate other faults (like boot options) that may cause the problem. First thing I would do would be to stick in Knoppix and see if it sees any problems. If knoppix boots and runs okay, then you know it's the hard drives. However, I've seen a few of these situations, especially with RH based systems, and typically it's some option missed on boot.

On the other hand, if it's a really slow system and fedora pauses, it might simply be because it's taking a while to dig up all the package information, especially if it's trying to figure out what kind of options to offer your computer. Not a very good excuse, but I remember old versions of mandrake taking several minutes to fo just a thing.

I think I deleted the volume info from the disk maybe or something like that? It'll run windows, but nothing else. I had Fedora core on this disk before I tried re-partitioning.
