Angry Can't I play video files on Fedora8?..

Hi, everyone..
I'm using Fedora8 along with XP...
it seems XP is more better than Fedora because I can play most of the video files in XP, but in Fedora only I can play mp3 files.
What should I require to play those videos in Fedora? It says that some video decoder or something called bundles are not installed. It says that to download those decoders I have to pay money.
So, is there no way to play those files for free like in XP?
Thanks in advance...

As root do the following

cd /tmp/
wget "http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/all-20071007.tar.bz2"
tar xfvj all-20071007.tar.bz2
mkdir /usr/lib/codecs/
cp all-20071007/* /usr/lib/codecs/
ln -s /usr/lib/codecs/ /usr/lib/win32

Note: The quotes around the url in the wget line are unneccessary, but the forum keeps changing into a link and I can't seem to get it to leave it alone and show the entire url without shortening it

Information helping you get Fedora working the way you would expect it to is found at

http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f8.html

http://www.howtoforge.com/installati...edora8-desktop

(They also have these for newer versions of fedora than 8, so if you get a newer version just replace the 8 with the current version number. When installing a linux system there are many installation guides online, so it is a good idea to search for "Fedora 8 installation guide", or whatever distro you are using, and follow some of their instructions as a first attempt at getting your system working)

Better still get all the required things from www.rpmfusion.org Then your package manager can install all the dependencies automagically.

Install mplayer, lots of codecs, lame, vlc, xvid, ...
