Curiousity lingers: How do you decompress an .iso file---why wouldn't the program complain about wrong file type or something?
Just run WinRAR and tell it where to extract to and it will, but what for i don't know.

@ pixellany,

WinRAR does allow you to open and browse an ISO file (which is one of the reasons why I prefer WinRAR over WinZIP, that is when I used to use Windows).

So I can see how he probably managed to burn the CD ROM by extracting the files out of the ISO.

Greenie

you can decompress an iso file easily. just click on it and if it(.iso) is associated with Winrar, WinRar will open it up. I just tried this with a Mandrake, sorry Mandriva iso and sure enough WinRAR did open it up

So the problem was caused by using Windows tools....

Does Winrar really decompress--or just extract from .iso?

I think is only extracts it, as i have extracted an ISO and the extracted folder was the same size as the ISO file.
