Can't get to Desktop after intial boot of SuSe 8.2

I installed SuSe 8.2 on a P2 350mhz desktop with 128mb of RAM, and a 10g hardrive that has windows 2000 and SuSe 8.2.

During the installation it asked me for a Login User name, and password, which i typed into the program.

After the intial boot from the hardrive, SuSe took me to a Login screen.

I typed in my user name, and then tabbed to Password Box. It won't let me type in any letters into the Password Box, thus I am stuck at that screen.

i reinstalled, and it said all files were fine.

How do I get past this page to my desktop?

help,

bram

Try loging in in text mode:

At the blue and white grub (when you first boot) screen, hit a key to stop the count-down and type "linux 3" (no quotes) - this will be entered at the bottom of the screen. This will boot you into text mode.

Hit F2 to watch the boot process and note any errors if possible.

When it asks for your login name and password, see if you can enter it. Then if you get logged it, type startx - this will start KDE. Let me know what happens - if anything.
