Can't get my printer working

I have a USB HP deskjet 930c i downloaded the hpijs-1.3 driver and followed their install instructions.

When i did ./confgure

i got missing errors
checking for gc no
checking for cc no

configure error no acceptble cc found in $PATH

Is there anyway i can get the prnter working without using these drivers. I saw that the printer configuration gui lists my printer.

Damn this is hard! Why can't there just be an autoconfiguration file that does it all for you.

Because it's Linux:)
If its listed in the printer configuration list why dont you use that program to configure it?
The drivers you tried to install didnt compile because you dont have a compiler installed.Look in /usr/bin for gcc.If its not there you should have gcc on the RH 7.1 cds.You can install it from them.
Mount the first cd and look for an rpm with the name egcs I think.
