Can't get Linksys USB wirelss adaptor to work with Ubuntu 12.04

I have a Dell laptop Inspirion 1501 that had Vista on it, I wiped out the VISTA and installed Ubuntu 12.04 (32 bit). Everything works ok but the wireless card on the laptop is old (and withthe linux would not work anyhow) so I plugged in a Linksys wireless USB 600N adaptor but I am not able to figure out how to find some drivers and them install them.

Help?

Ron

Lets see what you got going on...Please use code tags...

Code:
echo uname: && uname -a -m -p && echo lspci: && lspci -v -v -v | awk '{RS=""} $0 ~ /Ethernet controller/ || $0 ~ /Network controller/' && echo lsusb: && lsusb && echo lsmod: && lsmod && echo ifconfig: && ifconfig && echo ifconfig -a: && ifconfig -a && echo iwconfig: && iwconfig && echo resolv.conf: && cat /etc/resolv.conf && echo route: && route -n
Copy and paste the output on here...

umm...ok, I don't know what a code tag is or how to find one....sorry for being so dense, I just installed the Ubuntu a couple of days ago and still trying to figure everything out. Is there a simple way to obtain the code tag?

Here's the webpage about your WUSB600n and instructions for the terminal:
It's the [Ralink RT2870] Found it under this solved thread
[SOLVED] How to get Linksys WUSB600N v1 [Ralink RT2870] capture packets in 11n network?

Here's the page for the Linux version of the driver:
http://driverscollection.com/?H=RT28...alink&SS=Linux

And this from the Ralink website:
http://www.ralinktech.com/en/04_supp...ort.php?sn=501

Found this at Ubuntu:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...sys%20WUSB600N

Hope this helps some

it works now notsure what I did!

Hi fellows, just to say I still couldnot figure out how to use code tags but I will someday, and the links provided by the other poster, I tried them, now my USB Linksys lights up and is running, not exactly sure how but it works! Thanks to you all, this relatively old laptop has new life again, with Vista, it was sort of like having a recurring bad dream. Now it works more like a new computer!
Thanks again!!
