Can't get control center to load

I have just downloaded and installed SuSe 9.1. I did the auto update at install and everything loaded just fine. Problem is, I can't get the Control center to open. It comes up on the task bar sits there for a sec and then disappears. Also When I right click or "middle click" the desktop so I can change backgrounds absolutely nothing happens. I believe it is kde 3.2. I am running an Intel Celeron 1.2 ghz onboard video and sound.

It worked fine for about half a day and now when I boot linux it get through the boot process and is about to load KDE and my monitor shuts down. I have seen alot of posts about this problem. any Ideas?

Ok I checked Xconfig and I can't find what to change. I looked at my log file (sax2) and I found this error

Fatal server error
Inconsistent display bitmapScanlineUnit. Exiting.

Idon't know if that will help anything. I don't want to change distros.. Im here to learn.
