Can't get Brother DCP-7065DN printer to work with Linux Mint 17

How do I get my Brother DCP-7065DN printer to work with Linux Mint 17? I looked for a solution on the internet and found something that said the brlaser driver works with that printer. But I don't know how to install the driver, even if I download it. Or maybe there is something different I can do. Any ideas?

Welcome to LQ!
You can get the required drivers and install instructions here. http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/li...tml#DCP-7065DN
As Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, follow the Ubuntu specific details.

I downloaded the drivers that Brother has listed for my Brother DCP-7065DN printer (both LPR and CUPS drivers). I then went into the terminal as sudo and mistskenly used a 'loc' command to try to locate the directory where they are located and got the following:

richard@richard-HP-Compaq-dx7500-Microtower ~ $ sudo
usage: sudo -h | -K | -k | -V
usage: sudo -v [-AknS] [-g group] [-h host] [-p prompt] [-u user]
usage: sudo -l [-AknS] [-g group] [-h host] [-p prompt] [-U user] [-u user]
[command]
usage: sudo [-AbEHknPS] [-r role] [-t type] [-C num] [-g group] [-h host] [-p
prompt] [-u user] [VAR=value] [-i|-s] [<command>]
usage: sudo -e [-AknS] [-r role] [-t type] [-C num] [-g group] [-h host] [-p
prompt] [-u user] file ...
richard@richard-HP-Compaq-dx7500-Microtower ~ $ loc drivers
No command 'loc' found, did you mean:
Command 'llc' from package 'llvm' (universe)
Command 'lpc' from package 'lpr' (universe)
Command 'lpc' from package 'cups-bsd' (main)
Command 'lpc' from package 'lprng' (universe)
Command 'ldoc' from package 'lua-ldoc' (universe)
Command 'cloc' from package 'cloc' (universe)
Command 'moc' from package 'qtchooser' (main)
Command 'lc' from package 'mono-devel' (main)
Command 'loch' from package 'therion-viewer' (universe)
loc: command not found
richard@richard-HP-Compaq-dx7500-Microtower ~ $ lpc lpr
lpr is not implemented by the CUPS version of lpc.
richard@richard-HP-Compaq-dx7500-Microtower ~ $ lpc cups-bsd
cups-bsd is not implemented by the CUPS version of lpc.

I got nowhere when I tried the commands that listed 'lpr' and 'cups-bsd'. I'm wondering if these drivers only work with 64-bit machines, and my machine is 32-bit. I didn't see any alternative 32-bit choices, so what can I do now? Sorry for all the trouble, but all this is new to me.

you may find this useful. for most modern distros, you will need both the brother lpr driver and the cupswrapper driver. both are required. the video below is a how to I did on Linux Lite, but the concept should be similiar on Linux Mint. By the way, the drivers are 32 bit.
