Can't get 2.6.2 kernel to work using Promise PDC 20375 onboard controller =(

I've been playing blindly with linux for a while now (okay, 2 months), and only recently decided to use a feature of my motherboard which I never knew existed (my fault for not reading the documentation I guess...) that being the onboard PDC20375 SATA chip from Promise, anyways, I've managed to get Redhat 9.0 installed OK on a Maxtor ATA-133 HD (that ISN'T an SATA disk..), plugged into the Promise PDC20375 onboard controller, by using the download provided at the Promise website (for SATA TX2 Plus). All was fine and well, Redhat boots (albeit quite slowly)...

Now, I come to upgrade to the latest 2.6.2 kernel, all was going well in terms of compiling until I come to mkinitrd... and it dumps out this response:

"No module pdc-ultra found for kernel 2.6.2"

All I can find is a pdc-ultra.patch which, I think, was built for 2.4.20-8.
I've searched absolutely everywhere, in both these forums and outside, and could find nothing that would help...

ANY help would be greatly appreciated =)
