Can't find address for server XXX.com.jo: Server failed

Hello All,
I'm a newbe as you can say in linux bind DNS system so here is my problem,

I have two dns servers one is master and other is slave and we have one zone hosted in our server however when i go and do nslookup on the Master DNS server this error comes up

Can't find address for server XXX.com.jo: Server failed

however when I do nslookup on slave server it works fine
i get the correct result
nslookup
> XXX.com.jo
Server: 127.0.0.1
Address: 127.0.0.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: XXX.com.jo
Address: 67.22.133.130
>

when I dig and trace the on both servers this is the output

Master dig only :

SERVFAIL means that there is some misconfiguration of your dns. You should post named.conf and the zone file (masking sensitive data), so we could take a look in order to help you on this.

Smile [SOLVED] Can't find address for server XXX.com.jo: Server failed Reply to Thread

Bathory

I have solved the problem like this
the www.XXX.XXX have domains that used _ (underscore) in the name which bind refuses, unless you specify the

1. "check-names response ignore;" inside the options configuration file and
2. on the zone.opt itself "check-names ignore;" so the

options looks like this

options {
directory "/var/named";
statistics-file "named.stats";
check-names response ignore;
};

and zone file looks like

zone "XXX.XXX." IN {
type master;
file "hosts/masters/XXX.XXX-hosts";
check-names ignore;
};

Thank you for the fast response
