Can't connect to the internet

I installed suse 12.1 and can't connect to the internet with an ethernet cable

Ok............You want to give sone info?

You want to tell us what you have done, and what is not working?
Do you have software support for your ethernet hardware?
What is the output of
ip addr
If your hardware is recognized and supported have you configured your network interface to function on your network? Are you using DHCP or are you using a fixed IP address? Can you ping by IP but not by DNS etc. Saying it doesn't work doesn't give much to go on.

The output of lspci and lsusb wouldn't hurt either.

I had the same problem, but with wireless, not ethernet. I had to go in and set the default gateway. See the following thread. For some reason, Open SuSE 12.1 does not seem to automatically configure the default gateway.
