Can't change themes in KDE 3.1

Hey there,
I just tried installing a theme for KDE 3.1, here's the steps it gave me:

- Step 1
$ ./configure --prefix=PREFIX
- Step 2
$ make
- Step 3 (as root)
# make install

where PREFIX is the path to your kde
installation eg: /usr, /opt/kde

I set the prefix to /user/mdk/kde
Everything looked like it worked perfectly, no errors or anything. but when I went to Theme Manager it wasnt there. Any ideas?

I think the prefix should be /usr/lib/kde3. Try that to see if anything changes.

Try going to Settings menu -> Appearance ->Themes -> Add new
A window wiil ask you the file you want to get , choose it (stiil compressed) and you'll get asked to confirm the installation. Say yes (if you did not change idea meanwhile).
May be I' m missing some step since working on KDE in italian.
please check
Ciao

Try: Configuration -> KDE -> LookNFeel -> Theme Manager. You can then add a theme.

My money is on the fact that it didn't install a "theme" at all!

If it's one of arronax's themes e.g. luna or acqua, they don't actually seem to install "themes" in Man 9.1. Read the readme (some of his themes you have to apply the individual parts and it's explained) or alternatively look in

Configuration -> KDE -> LookNFeel -> Style

for the name you are expecting...

You might have solved the problem already and i could be way wrong but the same thing happened to me once....
