Angry Can't Change Directories


What am I doing wrong here.

[root@SANA4SPA ~]# dir

anaconda-ks.cfg Downloads Music Public Videos
Desktop install.log newscript Templates
Documents install.log.syslog Pictures test1

[root@SANA4SPA ~]# cd /Downloads
bash: cd: /Downloads: No such file or directory
[root@SANA4SPA ~]#

the / in front of Downloads is incorrect..

cd Downloads would be the appropriate command.

Currently you are telling it to change into the Downloads folder in the root of the drive (/Downloads) rather than the Downloads subdirectory that is in the root directory. (/root/Downloads)

/ root directory (not to be confused with /root)
Examples

$dir /
its going to list /bin /usr /sbin etc. As you see 'Downloads doesn't exist. when you issue just

$dir
you get the directory listing of the current directory.
