Red face Can't boot because won't except user name and password.


Hi All, Just installed Edgy Ubuntu...it goes all the way through the boot sequence then it asks for user login and I put it in and says it's wrong.

when installing Ubuntu, you was asked to enter username and password - you need to use it now for login.
Check keyboard lang, CapsLock.

Try to boot Grub in single user mode and change the password of root, I hope that you din't put any password for the bootloader, otherwise do some googling or search from the same site.

I don't use Ubuntu but most distro installer will have a rescue mode. Place the installation disc in, boot up select rescue, then you should be able to mount the root partition. Then you chroot into the root system and then change the password of the user:

Code:
passwd username
restart the machine and log in as the user with the new password.

thanks
As shahz mentioned, boot into the FAILSAFE mode at the GRUB menu. This will get you in as root by default. Then just change the password on your account
