Angry can't access X11

So this is my problem:

I booted up redhat with a floppy for the first time in a while on my laptop. After getting into the gui, I reallized I wanted to use a mouse instead of laptop. So I plugged one in, and it didn't work so I changed the mouse settings. Still didn't work. So i rebooted for some reason.

Now x will not start because of these errors:

(EE) Mouse0: Unknown protocol "sun"
(EE) PreINit failed for input device "Mouse0"
No core pointer

So, I've been reading around the site for answers, and there are some. I've tried running "xConfigurator" but there is no such file or directory on my computer. Same with "xF86Config." None. I've also tried accessing my xconfig file in /etc/x11/ but I can't even gain access to this directory. When I "ls" in /etc/, x11 shows up, but when i try to "cd" to it, it says the directory doesn't exist.

Anyone have any solutions?

Are you root when you are trying to do this?

As root run

redhat-config-xfree86

in /etc/X11/XF86Config your mouse protocol is wrong. If it is a normal ps/2 mouse replace sun with ps/2 if it is a fanier mouse use imps/2.
