since your using samba, you should add your users to smbpasswd. read the smbpasswd manual for addition info.

good luck!

hello again

I am still struggling with samba configuration in ubuntu 7.04

I tried to mount a folder called: ubuntu_shares in the home folder of the user named 'ubuntu' at mount point '/mnt/shared'

Ientered the following as root:

root@ubuntu7:/mnt# smbmount //192.168.28.129/home/ubuntu/ubuntu_shares /mnt/shared -o username=ubuntu

I was promped for a password which i entered

Then I got this message:

13839: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
SMB connection failed
root@ubuntu7:/mnt#

I hope someone can help me with this - i'm a newbie

Thanks

I'm also trying to find a way to access partitions in either direction....... After reading these comments I decided to check out samba.... and found that it was indeed installed according to YaST. However I have no idea how to access or use it..... Where can I find information? There is no access in the menu system that I can find, and nothing comes up from the command line........ I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff......
