cable modem drivers?

i have cable internet access from cablevision. the modem's hooked up to my dual booting computer and i want it to be read by linux too. the problem: cablevision doesn't have drivers. i even went to linux-how-tos and they had an entry for cablevision, but it had a dead link. can anybody help me find something, or help me make my own?

How does your modem connect to your pc? Mine is via ethernet card (though not a cablevision one) and needs no drivers.

If it's USB then your going to have plenty of trouble getting it hooked up. I should know, after countless posts here I just went out and got a $10 D-Link Ethernet card which works wonders on my Linux.

cable

Most cable modems proviede a dual USB/ethernet interface. Use the ethernet to connect to your ethernet card. And then use Netconf to configure your cable modem connection. Most ISP's work straight out of the box with minimal configuration.
