C Compiler cannot create executables (Gentoo amd 64)

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I am trying to install Gentoo on my 64 Athlon system. I have it installed on my system but i cannot emerge applications such as gaim or my nvidia drivers. It gives me an error saying that the "Complier cannot create executables" As of now X will start but i can't see whats goin on. So if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this C compiler error, it would be greatly appricaited.
