Well, since most of the OS's out these days use C/C++ to do hardware access, I'd say it's possible.

Where should you start? Don't know, since you don't say what you're trying to do...and QT is a development framework.

Kinda hard to answer your questions, when you don't say anything about what problems/errors you have, what version/distro of Linux you're using, or what you're actually trying to do.....

Required? Not at all...but if you don't say what you're trying to do, or what problems you're having, how can we help? You STILL don't say what you're trying to accomplish, what hardware you're trying to access, or what problems you're having doing it.

Mandriva 2009 isn't a 'package', it's a whole OS...do you mean you're dual-booting Mandriva and Vista?

If you've been working with C/C++ for 4 years, you should be very familiar with how to access hardware devices.

Whatever I've learned it c++ is all basics. Now I'm trying to explore it as more as possible.
Actually I'm trying to control the o/p & i/p of ps/2 port of my system to take and access data from sensors and maintain a datasheet according to it i.e, record of number of change in the sensors o/p.

my system configuration is...
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6400 @2.00GHZ
32-bit operating system.
Dual boot - mandriva and Vista
