Burning Source Disc File To CD
 

I am using Vista but I want to use Asianux so I downloaded the Asianux 3.0 Server SP1 x86 Source Disc files from http://asianux.com.

I do not know how to make bootable CDs from these files and I can find no explanation in the installation guide PDF file.

The Source Disc file for disc 1 is a .iso file and contains a few small files and mostly consists of .src.rpm files.

I have burned this file to CD using several different ISO recording programs.

I have extracted the files with winrar and burned them to CD.

I have downloaded and used mkisofs and the following line
mkisofs -o [image.iso] -J -r -v -V [disc_name] [source_directory]
and burned the resulting ISO file to CD with several ISO recording programs, but when I burn this resulting file the CD always contains just the ISO file. The ISO file is not extracted, just burned as is.

I have ensured that CD is the first boot device, and after loading BIOS, I see the usual check to boot from CD, but no bootable CD is found.

How do I make a bootable CD from these Source Disc files?

Since I have all the source files, there must be a way to compile it into a bootable binary ISO. How can I do this?

I dont have windows and do not know windows commands:)

I don't have much experience in linux but I know I want to remove Windows and use Asianux.

I have used a linux live cd before. Can I use a linux live cd to solve my problem?

Yes I have read that and it does not explain how to make a CD from the source files provided on the site.

anything in there named diskboot.img or boot.iso?

Negative.

The only files in there that I didn't list are .src.rpm files, of which there are 291.

But the installation guide refers to diskboot.img and boot.iso, and refers to a /images folder which is also not there.

I'm downloading the iso, will see if it finished, if I can burn it and boot.

I like it because one of the co-developers is a Korean company.

It's a source cd, so no way to make a bootable CD
However, you need the file boot.iso (according to the pdf)

Asianux does not appear to have any sort of forum.

There is an email address which I emailed twice in English and Korean and have not received a response for 3 days.

There are downloadable pdf files that explain GUI, command line operation, etc within the Asianux environment.

There is an installation guide which assumes you have the installation CDs.

There is an FAQ section for problems occurring within the Asianux environment.

Why would they offer the source cd if I can't do anything with it?

I just burned the img file repo linked to but it was not bootable. The file is 1.4MB.

I found the Korean website for Asianux, which has pages in English.

http://www.asianux.co.kr/en/server3_intro_en.php explains the product details and has a link to download a trial version or purchase it for USD$500.

Are they allowed to sell this without offering it for download?
