HI

i am new to linux and my question is that if i burn a DVD in RHEL4 will i able to see its contents in Windows Xp

can you please explain the logic behind tooo.

I dont know much about file systems and my thinking is that both use different file systems so it should 'nt run on XP.

Usually you should be able to access the contents irrespective of where you burn it but it will depend on the format of the data. If there is nothing but some text and pdfs and mp3 songs and such you should be fine with.

K3b is a commonly used tool for CD/DVD burning, though burning can also be done on the terminal via cdrecord (or dvdrecord).

ISO9660 filesystems are read by Linux and Windows alike. To allow long filenames you should make sure that Joliet and Rock-Ridge extensions are added to the IO9660 filesytem. Rock-ridge is usually added by default by a large number of burners.
