Building largesmp kernel from source

Hi
One of my servers has 2.6.9-55.EL-smp-x86_64 kernel.
it earlier had 8 CPU's & now we have added 8 more CPU's, but the current kernel is not taking more than 8 CPU's.
Server has the following kernel in source

/usr/src/kernels/2.6.9-55.EL-largesmp-x86_64

but how we go about building a new kernel from this.
Thanks

Assuming you have RHEL4 installed you should just contact RH, that is what you subscription is for. It is a pretty safe bet that you are not the only customer they have the is using more than 8 cpus.

If you do not have a subscription (you should not be running RHEL) you may just want to grab a Centos 4 kernel. Centos does not make multiple versions (for one arch) with different capabilities like RH does. Centos is RHEL with the logos removed. It is built using RHEL source rpms (sans logos).

As the server is not exposed to internet, logging thru RHN is out of the question.

Any other alternative, other than this.

Solution was very simple guys

just downloaded the respective kernel rpm from redhat, i already had the source.
So just installed the rpm & valla i had everything i needed.
grub entry
initrd image & kernel in /boot
made required changes in /etc/grub.conf & rebooted the server.
