Building a new system

Hi, I'm brand new to Linux and have a few questions.

I'm building a new computer for myself. My goal is to Dual-Boot it in Windows XP (for gaming) and Linux (for running analysis programs at uni.) I'd like to build it with a 64-bit processor and a hot video card, but on somewhat of a budget. I've made a list of components I can afford, and that will work well in Windows, but I'm having trouble figuring out if they will work under Linux. CAn someone point me towards a site where I can figure this out, or should I just post the components I'd like to use and maybe someone can tell me if they'll work? I should mention that I haven't bought any parts yet, so I have the freedom to pick things that will work nicely.

Glad to find a newbie forum,
Rettere

PS: Use nvidia for good 3D in Linux.

THanks for the quick response. How complete is that website? It says a lot of things about still being under construction?
