Browser is acting funny

i have just installed fedora-10 in my computer. i have a 1.2gb ddr1 ram with a celeron processor. when i use my browser i notice that it is generally slow during scrolling and some icons even dont appear until i move the mouse pointer over it.sometimes the text flickers as i type.some lines are bold and some are not. i dont know whats causing the problem but i hope there is nothing serious. can someone help me in fixing this???

ps:im absoloutely new to linux
