brother printer drivers

hello

I am going nuts trying to install the drivers for my mfc-j265w printer. On my last stab at it, while trying to install the pre requisites (from brother website) I got this.

randy@dell:~$ sudo aa-complain cupsd
[sudo] password for randy:
Setting /usr/sbin/cupsd to complain mode.
randy@dell:~$ sudo mkdir /usr/share/cups/model
mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/usr/share/cups/model’: File exists
randy@dell:~$

I'm hoping someone has an easier way of installing my drivers. I have tried several different ways but always I end up doing something a little bit wrong. I am using uduntu 14.04 on inspiron 15 amd a6.

I down loaded the lpr(deb) and cups wrapper from the brother site right now they are sitting in downloads zipped. The error message I posted was from brother's prerequisite #2. I tried using the generic drivers and got a cups error. Would it be easier to solve that error and use the generic drivers?
