broken pkg in PCLinuxOS 2009 repos

Hi, I'm running PCLos 2009, wanted to download from repos http://spout.ussg.indiana.edu/linux/...pclinuxos/apt/
but always get message "broken files." I have 1 broken file (apparently) and have applied filter "broken" gone to edit & fix broken packages, but the notice comes up ERR:kgProblemResolver cant fix dependencies.
What do I do???

Hi whk, yes, Synaptic is supposed to download & install things, which it did for the first two apps I wanted, then it came up and said "can'd download package, fix broken package first". OK says I, I found the broken package which said it was synaptic, logged off the net, su terminal, synaptic-repair (which took about 20 hours to complete ,,, I'm on dial-up). This said things were fixed. Logged onto net. Went to synaptic package manager, repositories, found the app amongst the not-installed list, marked it, hit apply & up came the same message "can't download, fix broked package first". Where am I going wrong???
