Broken Dependencies

I have tried installing Bitdefender antivirus for unices, it appeared to have installed correctly but failed to launch only showing a box saying "Loading Antivirus engine" but nothing else happened, I therefore uninstalled it however in Synaptic package manager it was listed under the status tab as having broken dependencies, I marked it for complete removal but this failed (Error code 1)
I also tried commands in terminal

sudo spt-get update

sudo apt-get -f install

sudo apt-get autoremove

sudo apt-get autoclean

I got this ~ The following packages will be REMOVED
bitdefender-scanner:i386
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 1 to remove and 18 not to upgrade.
1 not fully installed or removed.
After this operation, 141 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] y
(Reading database ... 165525 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing bitdefender-scanner (7.7.1-1809) ...
find: ‘/opt/BitDefender-scanner/share/locale’: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing package bitdefender-scanner (--remove):
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
bitdefender-scanner
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Don't know what else to do, if I just leave it (the system seems to be working ok) will it harm anything.
Thanks.
Don't

Hi,
I got it from the Bitdefender site http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/busines...or-unices.html, it says request a free licence, I simply had to register for a free licence key which they emailed to me with a link to download the file which was the latest one listed. It is a .run file.

I have found the answer, I entered sudo -i gedit /var/lib/dpkg/status at the terminal & deleted all reference to Bitdefender in the file then saved it. This seems to have worked.
